WILEY CREEK FIRE Update: August 14, 2023, 10:15 a.m.

Quick Facts-

Size: 241 Acres

Location: 6 miles SE of Sweet Home

Containment: 25%

CONTAINMENT EFFORTS CONTINUING, SMOKE IN VALLEY FROM LOOKOUT FIRE

Fire crews working overnight increased containment on the Wiley Creek Fire to 25%, even in the midst of extremely high temperatures, low humidity, and changing wind conditions. Residents near the fire, within the Sweet Home area and throughout the valley, are seeing an increase of smoke in the air this morning.

The large majority of the smoke is not from the Wiley Creek Fire. Rather, an east-southeast wind is pushing the smoke from the Lookout Fire into the valley (see attached image). The Lookout Fire is burning in Lane County, near the unincorporated community of McKenzie Bridge.
